The Hot Lunch Program at Gabriola Elementary was initiated by a donation from the Ken Stefanson Memorial Fund  and has the support of the Teachers, Principal and PAC of Gabriola Elementary. The Hot Lunch Program is on Wednesday of each week.

A “Farm to School” grant gave us the ability to extend our vision of the program to come full circle for the students. Students grow their own food in the school vegetable garden and the gardens located at the Commons and when harvested, becomes ingredients for the hot lunches. Students have started seeds, tended garden beds, planted, watered and harvested.

All these meals are home made from scratch and follow the school’s health guideline policies of healthy eating. When meal planning we look at what we have from the gardens and have been processing many vegetables as they ripen for future use in the program.
